How to find the best deal

Huawei has since unveiled its new Smartphone flagships P40 and P40 Pro. Although the devices will not be officially available for sale until 8 April 2020, you can already pre-order them from many mobile operators. We have put together the best offers for you.

Pre-ordering is worth double

If you use your new P40 or P40 Pro directly , you benefit twice. Then it will not only be one of the first benefits that the new Huawei flagship will hold in its hands in Germany; you also get lucrative three-giveons on top.

For all pre-orders who are until 7 April 2020 opt for one of the two smartphones, Huawei puts the smart Watch GT 2e watch and the Freebuds 3 wireless earplugs in the Total value of 348 euros on top of it. The offer is not only valid directly from the manufacturer and when purchasing the smartphone without a contract. You also get the two gifts on top of most mobile operators. As a rule, the action still applies there until 1 May 2020.

Buy Huawei P40 and P40 Pro without a contract

If you are already contractually bound or want to equip the P40 with a prepaid SIM card, it is best to buy the device without a contract. Costs should not initially fall and remain at the level of the manufacturer’s non-binding retail price recommendation. This is available for the P40 in the three different colours 799 euros. For the better equipped P40 Pro, no contract 999 euros To.

Both devices are available. Alternatively, you can order them in many other online shops.

It is currently difficult to predict when a first price drop on the Huawei P40 and P40 Pro will begin. As a rule, this is only the case a few months after the release, certainly it will take some time before the devices can be obtained for around 450 or 650 euros without a contract. For this, the pre-order discount is already considerable due to the free encores – certainly Huawei is reacting to the expected sales loss due to the lack of Google services.

These are still included in the predecessor model Huawei P30 and P30 Pro – both devices are now available for around 429 euros and 569 euros respectively.

Buy Huawei P40 and P40 Pro with contract

If you want to pay less in the short term and have no problem with the binding to fixed terms, grab your Huawei P40 or P40 Pro with a contract. Depending on the provider and tariff, the P40 is available for a one-time additional payment of just a few euros. The P40 Pro is slightly more expensive due to the better equipment and the higher RRP. Both devices are available from many different vendors:

If you’re ordering Huawei’s P40 (Pro) with a contract, consider the following:

  • If you get a new mobile phone contract with the P40 or P40 Pro, you should keep an eye on your usage habits and requirements. The ideal rate offers all the services you need, but does not cost unnecessarily much. Especially the data volume contained is important. Tariffs are often the biggest differences. Telephone and SMS flats are now included in many contracts anyway.
  • The P40 and P40 Pro support the new mobile standard 5G. If you live in one of the major cities already expanded with 5G and want to use the fast mobile internet, you need a suitable contract that includes 5G.
  • Which method – buy P40 (Pro) with or without a contract – is the cheaper one, you can easily calculate: Adds the total cost of the mobile phone contract over the entire term (24 x basic fee plus all one-off payments). Then subtracts the new device price (see above) and divides the total by 24. You compare the calculated value with a tariff that is as identical as possible without a smartphone. This is how you can find out what is cheaper: buy p40 or P40 Pro without a contract and purchase a SIM-only tariff or purchase the device together with a term contract.
  • Remember: Cancel the contract in good time. Unfortunately, many forget that. In some cases, a contract extension will incur higher costs than during the first contract period. And you miss the chance to switch to a cheaper or better fare – including a new smartphone.

Buy Huawei P40: Yes or no?

Finally, the question remains whether you should buy Huawei’s P40 or P40 Pro or look for another smartphone. From our point of view, the pits stand for the P40 Pro, especially the excellent camera, which was developed together with specialist Zeiss. The P40 is slightly weaker here, but also offers a good smartphone camera.

Both devices support the new 5G cellular standard, which is far from the case for all current devices. However, the 5G network is still in its infancy in this country and is only available in a few cities. It should also be noted that due to the US embargo, Huawei can no longer offer any Google services (e.g. the Google Play Store) on its devices – you also have to do without them on the P40 and P40 Pro.
